Mobile internet with an eSIM for Panama
With a prepaid eSIM Panama from Airport Telecom, you can be reached throughout Panama on one phone number. Moreover, you have 12GB or 30GB of data. So these cards are very suitable for internet use. Be careful, however, because you can receive incoming phone calls in Panama with these prepaid eSIMs, but you cannot make normal outgoing phone calls with them. All calls that run through the Internet such as with Whatsapp, Skype, Facetime etc. are of course possible. After all, you are then using the data bundle on the eSIM.
Data and calling while traveling in Panama
The phone number of the prepaid eSIM on which you can be reached in Panama will be sent to you by SMS after activation of the eSIM. It is an English (+44) number. We chose this because the eSIM in question offers a very good data bundle in Panama and uses the largest Panamese mobile networks. Moreover, this eSIM does not require user registration in Panama.
Whatsapp with eSIM Panama
All calls that run over the Internet such as with Whatsapp, Skype and FaceTime are of course also possible with the eSIM for Panama. You will then use the data bundle. You can always continue to use Whatsapp with your own existing contacts, groups and chats. After inserting an eSIM, Whatsapp may ask if you want to create a new identity or if everything should stay as it was. If so, choose the latter and nothing will change. You can then continue to send messages and make calls with Whatsapp as usual.
Coverage in Panama
Panama has an excellent mobile network. This allows you to stay well connected to the Internet while enjoying, for example, the San Blas archipelago, Panama City, Portobello Bay or the Panama Canal. In addition, a trip to Panama also gives you the option to visit beautiful nature in Soberania National Park or on Santa Catalina beach. Telephone coverage in Panama is good in and around Panama City and in other populated areas. As you travel further into the countryside, mobile coverage may be less.
